湖州历来是丝绸之府,“湖丝”更是享有“湖丝甲天下”“湖丝冠绝海内”的盛誉。新中国成立以来,湖州丝绸长期保持全国生产总量的十分之一和出口总量的六分之一,为国家建设创收了宝贵的外汇。改革开放以后特别是进入本世纪,湖州丝绸产业经过改制重组,以崭新的面貌再次让世人瞩目。近三年整个湖州丝绸产业转型升级破难创新,更以规模扩大、工艺更新、研发领先、市场拓展,实现了大跨越。
