强调句 It is /was +被强调成分+ that /who…非常重要，也是高考热点。强调人，用that /who皆可；强调物只用that；强调时间、地点、原因，不用when /where /why代替that。下面讲解其用法及难点。
1. 强调主语及主语从句
（1）It is you rather than I that /who are wrong.
（2）It is I rather than you that /who am wrong.
（3）It is what you do that matters.
强调主语时，强调句要和被强调成分保持数的一致，如句（1）中are ，句（2）中am，句（3）中matters.
2. 强调宾语及宾语从句
（4）It is him that I like.
（5）It was what he said that I was proud of.
3. 强调状语及状语从句
（6）It was because he was ill that he did not go to school.
如强调原因状语从句，只强调because引导的原因状语从句。因为since /as引导的原因状语从句语气就不重，所以不必强调；也不用why代替that.
（7）It was not until he came back that I went to bed.
（8）It was yesterday that we met him.
（9）It was in the room that I met him.
另外，强调时间/地点时，不能用when /where代替that；强调时间副词，前后时态要一致。
4. 强调句的判定
（10）It was at 6:00 that we got up.
（11）It was 6:00 when we got up.
（12）It was in the room that he did the work.
（13）It was the room where he did the work.
如果去掉it is /was…that原句成立，则为强调句，如句（10）、（12）。而句（11）、（13）不是强调句。
（14）— Where did you meet him?
— It was in the factory where he worked.
本句如填that，则答非所问。它相当于It was in the factory where he worked that I met him.的省略。
5. 强调句用于宾语从句和主语从句中。
（15）I know where it is that he plays.
（16）It does not matter what it is that you like.
6. 强调句中that可省略。
（17）I know who it is he likes.
本句是强调句用于宾语从句中，is后that省略。对于初学者，that最好不省略。英语原版小说中that省略很普遍，语言更简练。
7. 强调句中that的成分功能分析。
（18）It is him that you like.
强调什么，that就作什么成分，如句（18）中 that 作like的宾语。
8. 强调句中插入情态动词，构成It might be…that…; It must have been…that…; It can be…that…等变体。
（19）It might be Tom that you are thinking of.
（20）It must have been Smith that you met last week.
（21）It can be the work that makes you tired.
9. 强调句特殊疑问句，疑问词提前即可。
（22）Why was it that he did not go there?
10. 强调句It is /was…that…和It is /was +时间+ since… ；It was +时间+ before…；It is /was +时间+ when…对比。
（23）It was three years ago that we began to learn English.
（24）It is three years since we began to learn English.
（25）It was three years since we had begun to learn English.
（26）It was three days before he came back.
（27）It was three days later that he came back.
（28）It was at midnight that we went there.
（29）It was midnight when /before we went there.
