A very important aspect of global governance is the transformation of various international governmental organizations into global governance institutions. For example, after the “Cold War” ended, the development of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) into the World Trade Organization (WTO) played a significant role in promoting global economic integration and trade liberalization and was considered as the most representative global Governance mechanism. This article focuses on the legitimacy strategies that these international organizations, as a category of actors in the global governance structure, have in transforming themselves into global governance mechanisms.
