美国拥有世界最发达的杂志工业,杂志已成为美国十分重要的大众传播工具。不仅因为数量上比报纸和广播电视台多,还因为有些杂志,如新闻和政治性刊物,内容详尽,分析深透,读者多为文化程度较高,有一定社会地位的人,影响较大。此外,美国杂志对于美国文化乃至世界杂志发展的贡献都是相当大的。从1741年《英国殖民地政治状况每月评论》开始,美国杂志已经走过近300年的风雨历程。
The United States owns the most advanced magazine industry in the world and the magazine has become a very important mass communication tool in the United States. Not only because it is larger in quantity than newspapers and radio and television stations, but also because some magazines, such as news and political publications, contain detailed and thorough analysis. Most of the readers are those who have higher education and social status and have a greater influence.
