苿蓉俗名荷花。杭州西湖每年六月,盛开的荷花亭亭玉立.摇曳于碧波之间,芳香四溢。荷花出污泥而不染的性格,更为古往今来正直的人们所赞颂,郭沫若就曾把他早年写的诗剧定名为《棠棣之花》,把荷花比为爱国英雄聂政。杭州西湖种植荷花有悠久的历史。据著名的诗人白居易一首诗中记载,早在一千一百多年前的唐代,西湖便已经是“绕郭荷花三十里”。到宋代,九百年前的北宋词人柳永的词《望海潮》,曾描写过西湖有“三秋桂子,十里荷花”。西湖十景之一的“曲院风荷”是欣赏荷花最好之地。曲院本来在杭州九里松洪春桥水 Cistanche common name lotus.
