齐默尔是技术哲学发展早期的重要人物,是卡普创立技术哲学后第一位系统阐述技术哲学核心问题的技术哲学家。齐默尔以黑格尔哲学为基础,全面分析了技术理念、技术本质以及技术的创造特征,并认为技术的目的就是人类通过对自然物质的驾驭和摆脱自然的束缚而获得自由,由此系统阐发了技术的本来意义以及从技术角度对自由意义的黑格尔主义解释。
