城市是美国犹太人的一个主要生存空间。贝娄将城市视为“人类经验的表达,认为城市包括了所有个体的历史。”这个个体在贝娄笔下体现为诸多不同的人物,有平民,也有知识分子,每种不同类型的人物代表不同的社会阶层与社会感悟,同时贝娄也通过个体历时的变化展现出社会历时的变化。文本将集中探讨贝娄笔下知识分子的精神状态以及在城市空间下知识分子的特征,来剖析贝娄以城市知识分子为出发点的人道主义关怀。
The city is a major living space for American Jews. Bellow regards the city as “the expression of human experience, believing that the city includes the history of all individuals.” "This individual is represented by Bellow as many different people, civilians, and intellectuals, each of the different types of people On behalf of different social classes and social perceptions, Bellow also demonstrated the diachronic changes in society through the change of individuals over time. The text will focus on the spiritual state of Bellow’s intellectuals and the characteristics of intellectuals in urban space to analyze Bellow’s humanitarian concern starting from urban intellectuals.
