Currently, Mt.Newman Mining Co.Ply.Ltd exports 32 million tonnes of iron ore per year to world markets as the largest single open pit mine in the Pilbara district of Western Australia By. Included in the total output of the ore is high grade fines, lumps and includes products from the new concentrator put into operation in early 1979; the plant processes 5.2 million tonnes of concentrate powder and blocks recovered from 6.8 million tonnes of mixed mines each year mine.
