前进乡位于辽宁西部山区,总面积12.8万亩,耕地9400亩,地貌特点是八山一水一分田。全乡5个村,7600口人,分布在青龙河两岸。该乡由于自然侵蚀和人为破坏,生态平衡失调,水土流失面积达7.4万亩,生产条件严重恶化,风雹水旱灾害俱全,造成群众生活穷困。 解放后,在党和政府的领导下,全乡掀起了治山治水、植树造林的高潮,50年代搞了一些造林工程,70年代开展了农田基本建设,修出了一些高标准的水平梯田,到1980年,治理了一部分水土流失面积,但是八分山的治理尚未被重视起来,山区农业经济发展缓慢,群众生活没有得到根本改变。
Forward Township is located in the western Liaoning mountains, with a total area of 128000 acres, 9400 acres of arable land, landform is characterized by eight mountains and one water a field. The township 5 villages, 7600 people, located in both banks of the Dragon River. The township due to natural erosion and man-made damage, ecological imbalance, soil erosion area of 74000 mu, production conditions deteriorated seriously, hail floods and droughts, resulting in poor people’s lives. After the liberation, under the leadership of the party and the government, the township set off the climax of water management and tree planting and afforestation. In the 1950s, some afforestation projects were carried out. In the 1970s, farmland infrastructures were constructed and some high standard terraces were constructed. In 1980, some areas of water and soil erosion were governed, but the management of the Eighth Mountain has not yet been taken seriously. The agricultural economy in mountainous areas has developed slowly and the livelihood of the masses has not been fundamentally changed.
