Pilkington Optics UK has created a MATLAB-based model for a series of sensors used in the Missile Approach Warning (MAW). The sensors modeled for their operation include the UV, mid-infrared and far-infrared bands and include indium antimonide, heat detectors and multiple quantum well detectors. The main purpose of this model is to estimate and compare the capabilities of various sensor technologies against a range of missile threats. The model can be used to calculate the real or user-specified characteristics of missile trajectory and trajectory. On the other hand, actual characterization data can be imported directly into the model to support experimental analysis. Output data includes ballistic trajectory, detection range and signal to noise ratio and other chart data.
