The 2012 PISA test data show that the internet still has a significant positive impact on the academic performance of secondary school students in Shanghai after the impact of many contextual factors, such as the use of propensity matching to exclude family economic status. The younger students first contact with the Internet, the better their academic development. The age at which students first contact the Internet is significantly related to the background. This shows that the Internet has also opened up academic differences and the digital divide continues to emerge influences. The internet has proved the inequality of reproduction, but still can not ignore the positive role of the Internet.
