1970年7月1日,历时6年修建的成昆铁路胜利通车了。这条全长1167公里的铁路因穿越筑路禁区攀西大裂谷区域,被联合国宣布为二十世纪人类征服自然的三大奇迹之一。而创造这一奇迹的是中华民族不畏艰难、团结一心、艰苦奋斗的民族精神。在成昆铁路建成通车40周年之际,本刊开辟“成昆纪事”专栏,以再现当年悲壮雄浑的筑路史实,弘扬30多万建设者的精神风骨。
July 1, 1970, which lasted six years to build the Chengdu-Kunming Railway victory opened to traffic. The 1167-kilometer railroad has been declared by the United Nations as one of the three wonders of mankind’s conquest of nature in the twentieth century because of its crossing of the restricted area of the road to Pan-West Rift. What has created this miracle is the national spirit of the Chinese nation, which is brave, united and hard-working. As the 40th anniversary of the completion of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway opened, this magazine opened the “Column of Chengkun Chronicle” to reproduce the historical facts of the tragic and powerful road building of the year and carried forward the spirit of the 300,000 builders.
