At the end of Blok ’s long poem “The Twelve,” surprisingly, Jesus Christ, “wearing a white rosette,” took up the bloody banner and became the revolutionary leader. It seems to Blok that the revolution will create pain, create new hatred and degradation, and will lose its way. Therefore, the revolution needs Jesus Christ to correct the worldly life, to reassure the people and to transform the souls of all people. Under Brock’s gentle writing, this gentle “white” Christ with “the illusion of women” is distinguished from Christ in the church system and doctrine and represents the poet’s ultimate ideal for the future of mankind.
