The high-level seminar on China’s health reform and development strategy was held in Beijing from June 22 to June 24, 2000. The seminar was jointly organized by the Department of Social Development of the National Development Planning Commission, the Department of Social Security of the Ministry of Finance, the Planning and Finance Division of the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Social Development of the Research Office of the State Council, and was co-organized by the World Bank and UNICEF. The seminar will discuss the strategic goals of China’s health reform and development and major issues that need to be addressed in the next 10 years, focusing on the relationship between health and economic and social development, the role of government and the market in health development, the management system of health organizations, and the classification management of medical institutions.
