IBM公司6月20日在美国市场推出了容量为IGB的微型硬盘驱动器,此款微型硬盘驱动器将目前业界容量最大的微型硬盘驱动器在容量上扩大了三倍。尽管容量高达1GB,但它的体积比一个火柴盒还要小,为手持设备、数码相机等便携计算产品的发展带来了新的机会。具体来说,1GB的存储空间大约能存储1000张高解析度图片、1000部200页的小说、或长达18小时的高质量数字音乐。IBM微型驱动器适合于各种手持电子设备了——从数字相机、MP3播放器到掌上电脑、PDA和视频摄像机,它甚至还可以作为数据交换辅助设备用于笔记本电脑、台式PC及打印机等设备。
On June 20, IBM introduced the IGB-based miniature hard drive in the U.S. market, which is three times the capacity of the industry’s smallest miniature hard drive. Despite its capacity of up to 1GB, it is smaller than a matchbox and opens up new opportunities for portable computing products such as handheld devices and digital cameras. Specifically, 1GB of storage space can store about 1000 high-resolution pictures, 1000 200-page novels, or up to 18 hours of high-quality digital music. The IBM Microdrive is ideal for a wide range of handheld electronic devices - from digital cameras, MP3 players to PDAs, PDAs and video cameras, and even as a data exchange aid for laptops, desktop PCs and printers.
