《晋书·文苑·左思传》记载:左思年少时学习并不认真,其父左雍对此很生气,曾当众奚落“小儿左思不思进取”以示恨铁不成钢之意。左思听后难过异常,于是发奋图强,刻苦读书,终成一名大文学家。先写出《齐都赋》,博得赞誉;后又呕心沥血,毕其十年之功写出《三都赋》,其内容、结构和语言等方面几近完美。深得当时文人的一致好评,人们争先恐后地抄阅。由于抄写的人过多,以致于洛阳的纸张因供不应求而大涨其价。后来,人们用“洛阳纸贵”来形容著作好、销售快,风行一时。 “Jin Shu Wen Yuan Zuo Si Chuan” records: Zuo Si young when learning is not serious, his father was angry about this left Yong, who publicly ridiculed the “child left Zusi enterprising” to show his hatred of iron into a steel meaning.
