(Saxarov).

The Russian sculptor Levon Lazarev’s reputation is not only in Russia, but also in the world. He is the author of many famous historical figures’ monuments, such as: Gothic, Kvarengi, Bach, Saxarov.
Levon Lazarev was born in Georgia and grew up there. When he was only nine years old, still a child, his father was shot. And he was raised by his mother and grandmother. His family is art-type, at the beginning, the boy shew an interest in music and drama, influenced by his family, as the fate turned, Levon Lazarev became a sculptor. The road of the career is tortuous and long. At the beginning, he got into Tbilisi National Fine Arts Institute, and then continued his studies in Practical And Decorative Fine Arts Institute, in Moscow. Finally, he graduated from Leningrad Muhina Arts and Crafts Institute. The professional art education coupled with the freedom creative space has given the sculptor extraordinary modeling and creative ability.
Levon Lazarev’s creative career always focus on good and evil, love and hate, these eternal themes. Such as the work The Pain of People , he pooled all the world suffering on a curly human, the burning passion peaked, even if the flame is extinguished, the audience will still be unable to resist such forces and can’t help. Sorrow and heroism can be seen in many of Levon Lazarev’s works.
Counter- ancient tendency and modern styles myth theme is one of the art characteristics of the sculptor’ works. This can be clearly seen in the work, Saxarov’s monument, he used symbols of ancient Egyptian myth, the entire body of the hero (scientist) is like the infant mummy. The feeling of head molding reminiscent of the ancient"giving bright" religious ritual, as if the great shaman gently stroked the hero’s face, so that he is blind then he can see. What needs to be stressed is that Lazarev is unlike any other one, he is not just good at controlling visible things on the art form surface, but also good at expressing the outside things of the image itself. Sometimes he will combine the images of two historical figures. For example, Alexander - Pushkin’s head obviously imitated the image of Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. The famous Russian poet and the ancient Egyptian queen are as similar as two drops of water. The expressive long neck, clear oval face, impeccable nose, and the back of the brain is extremely small, these are the same features of the two portraits. But even then, the Pushkin Pushkin, after all, the portrait itself illustrates this point. Lazarev can be called one of the best contemporary portrait sculptors.
Other characteristics of Lazarev’s works displayed in the modern style of the myths theme. For example, used concocted style in the statue of Greek goddess Artemis, united different historical dynasties in the image of the virgin goddess of hunting. The Sculptor use the debris concept in his creation, from the deep Paleolithic, classical mythology plot, to the figures’ forms of ancient Greek style. In a word, the sculptor had never stopped exploring. He often use common and ordinary materials around us directly as sculpture materials to mold, including wire, rope, hemp fiber, which will give the works unusual decorative details and symbolic meanings. In this way, he created the famous composer Shostakovich. Composer’s bust, only a shell, the body has no classical sense, just has the surface, and nothing else. In these extraordinary approach, he layed stress on the nothingness of the physical space and the expansion of the spirit, that is Lazarev’s style. He torn the modeling materials, like the legendary hero Danko, cut his chest, took out his heart and put it highly above his head, lighting up people’s way forward.
