时常听到一些同志們說:“要我們寫电影剧本,实在是外行。做一次演講,寫一篇文章还可以,但是要寫电影剧本,就不知道从何着手了。”因此有人就不敢尝試,总以为电影剧本創作很神秘,不懂电影攝制中的一些專門技術,就难以动筆。其实,科学教育电影剧本一点也不神秘,凡是掌握了其一項科学知識,而又看过电影的人都可以尝試。目前絕大多数科学教育电影剧本的格式很簡單。大多数是一边寫着画面(就是放映在銀幕上的是些什么)的主要內容,一边寫着配合这个画面的解說詞,如果要求画面上人物直接講話給观众听的,就寫上对白。随便举一个例子來說,如影片“培育壯秧”中就有一段:
