In the last four years, this method has been used in the design and construction of 35 studios. This method has proven to be accurate and reduces the cost of acoustic treatment in half. In the first part of this paper, we present a new discriminant index for the correct distribution of rooms in a straightforward manner, based on a resonance-mode density curve expressed in 1/3 octave analysis. The second part deals with the design and analysis of a special acoustic unit, which is named S.A.P. These units provide precise acoustical absorption and compensate for the acoustic properties of other materials used in the room. The computer’s calculation program includes plotting the frequency response of the reverberation time.
