《恋爱中的女人》是D·H·劳伦斯的一部重要的小说,作品写于作者建立理想社会的愿望破灭之际。作品展现了几种不同的爱情观和情感类型:只追求精神交融而恐惧本能欲望型,以赫麦妮为代表;只追求肉欲满足而无精神追求型,以杰拉德为代表。这两种类型的两性关系并未得到劳伦斯的肯定,究其原因是因为它们是残缺的、不和谐的。文中作者对伯金和厄秀拉精神与肉体完美交融型的和谐两性关系进行了着力刻画,寄予了作者希望人类经此途径而获得新生的和谐爱情观,同时也是本文想传达给广大读者的爱情观。
