西北五省区首届报纸美术研讨会于10月10日—16日在乌鲁木齐石化总厂召开,来自宁夏、甘肃、青海、新疆等省区报社的13位代表参加了会议.会议以江泽民同志视察人民日报社的重要讲话和党的十四届六中全会精神为指导思想,对报纸美术工作的性质、地位、作用及其任务,对新时期运用激光照排等高新技术手段后,报纸美术编辑面临的新课题以及如何提高自身业务素质等问题进行了深入的探讨.与会代表相互交流经验,也从比较中找出了差距,明确了今后努力的方向,增强了开创新闻美术工作新局面的信心,会议期间还安排了创作实践活动,对用美术手段进行新闻报道作了新的探索.宁夏日报“塞上画廊”是80年代中期在西北五省区报中率先创办的美术画刊,现已出刊120多期.由于报社领导的重视和美编的努力,画刊固定版面,固定时间,内容丰富,形式多样,编排精心,注重宣传宁夏和培养人才,具有鲜明的地方特色.在全国省报画刊中享有一定声誉,受到与会代表的一致称赞.青海日报创办的“西海书画苑”画刊,从1996年开始每月半个版,现已出刊70期,主要介绍本省画家及作品,包括工人、农民、军人、教师等各行各业美术作者的书画作品.对宣传本省美术成果和培养美术人才起到了较好的作用.
