作为解释方法的“以西释中”近年来广受质疑,甚至出现了一股盲目排斥西方哲学的极端观点。尽管“以西释中”的实践的确导致了需要认真关切的问题,比如“垄断中国哲学话语”、“对中国哲学的伤害”等,但对这个问题的分析与处理也应该置于学术层面加以讨论。检视百余年来中国哲学的演进可以说,“以西释中”不仅是20世纪中国哲学研究的主要学术实践,而且推动了中国哲学的现代进展,并使中国哲学在形式与内容上都得到了提升。同时我们也需要认识到,作为解释方法的“以西释中”所导致的诸多问题,一方面缘于应用主体的学术素养与价值立场,另一方面缘于我们并未正确、深刻理解文本的性质以及被理解文本与解释实践的复杂关系。而基于这种认识的形成,“以西释中”仍然是中国哲学更新、完善自己的基本途径之一。
