纵观历史,放眼世界,大凡大江大河入海口的三角洲地区,无不是孕育人类文明、促进社会经济发展的摇篮。英国泰晤士河河口三角洲,出现了世界名城——伦敦;美国密西西比河河口三角洲迅速兴起的新奥尔良市;荷兰莱茵河河口三角洲,建成发达的港口城市——鹿特丹。在我国,通过三角洲经济的开发,带动新兴城市迅速崛起也不乏其例,长江、珠江三角洲早已成为中国经济发达区,孕育和造就了上海、广州这两座世界著名城市,迄今仍在对浦东开发区和深圳、珠海特区的发展产生积极的影响;而黄河三角洲则由于三次河口迁移,在入海口造就了三个三角洲,并相继出现了天津、东营等发展中的城市。相信,我国“科技兴海”、发展海洋经济的大气候,必将为三角洲地区带来新的发展机遇。
