The relationship between radio and television news and social media platforms is growing rapidly. Social media has a huge impact on the choice and production of news. In the past few years there has been an interesting debate over the need for citizen journalism and its reliability, all of which involve the information contained in social media. News editors must rely on the overall dynamics of social media to decide how to plan their newsletter. On the morning of April 27, Nihon Satoshi, Secretary-General of International Public Broadcasting, Yang Jihong, Director of New Media Department of CCTV News Center, Reis Hollerun, Media CEO of Australia, French-speaking Belgian Broadcasting Station and Radio European Project Coordinator Alexander Prest discusses how social media can become an important source of television news.
