严肃处理事故，是加强社会主义法制的一个重要方面。我们完全支持李瑜同志的要求，对于漠视工人生命安全、把人命当儿戏的官僚主义者，必须严肃处理，绳之以党纪国法。只有这样，才能惩前毖后，使事故责任者本人和厂矿企业领导人受到教育，引为戒鉴。如果对事故责任者姑息，就无异于助长了不关心工人死活的官僚主义，这是绝对不能容许的。
Seriously handling accidents is an important aspect of strengthening the socialist legal system. We fully support Comrade Li Yu’s request. For bureaucrats who ignore the life safety of workers and regard their lives as their children’s theater, we must deal with them seriously and bring them to party discipline and state law. Only in this way can we punish the former minister, so that the accident responsible person and the leaders of factories and mines and enterprises are educated as a guide. It is absolutely unacceptable that appeasement of those responsible for the accident is tantamount to promoting bureaucracy that does not care about the worker’s life and death.
