为发展我国气瓶事业,提高气瓶产品安全质量的检测试验水平,适应我国气瓶产品安全质量监督和进出口工作的需要,劳动部锅炉压力容器检测研究中心北京气瓶检测试验基地于1992年5月16日正式成立。气瓶检测试验基地具有较为完善的测试条件和较强测试能力,其服务宗旨是;按照国家有关气瓶的法规、条例、规程、标准,遵照劳动部锅炉局的有关指示,为我国气瓶安全监察工作服务,接受政府、社会各界和企业的委托,提供有关气瓶产品安全性能测试和产品质量评定的、具有公正、权威的技术服务,以促进我国气瓶行业的科技进步。气瓶检测试验基地今年的首项任务是6月份配合劳动部锅炉局1991～1992年全国液化石油气瓶产品
