Objective To investigate and analyze the nutritional status of vitamin D among Han and Uighur adults in Urumqi, Xinjiang and to analyze the relationship with ethnic, gender and age. Methods From May to June 2013, a random cluster sampling method was used in Urumqi urban area to collect blood samples of 1,858 residents, including 1046 Han nationality and 812 Uighur adults. The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [ 25 (OH) D] detection, analysis of vitamin D nutritional status of residents and with different nationalities, gender, age. Results Han (Han) and Uygur 25 (OH) D levels were 19.16 ± 8.10 ng / m L and 13.09 ± 6.98 ng / m L, respectively, significantly higher in Han Chinese than in Uighurs (P <0.0001) , Uygur P <0.0001); (2) Vitamin D deficiency in the Han nationality was insufficient, enough, accounting for 64.5%, 25.1% and 10.3% respectively; Uygur accounted for 88.5%, 8.0% and 3.4% %); (3) The prevalence rates of vitamin D deficiency in Han, middle-aged and elderly groups were 72.2%, 63.2% and 54.1% respectively, and Uygur were 90.0%, 86.0% and 88.1% respectively. The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency decreases with age in Han Chinese. After age breakdown, the prevalence of Han> 80 years old and Uygur> 75 years old began to increase. Conclusion Xinjiang Uighur vitamin D is generally lacking, which is obviously higher than other regions in China. The Uygur is higher than the Han nationality, the female is higher than the male, the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the elderly is increased, and the nutritional status of vitamin D needs to be improved.
