In the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the Yanshanian granite residual stratum is widely distributed and is the main bearing layer for the foundation of urban buildings. In order to study the physical and mechanical properties of the soil layer, our institute has carried out load tests and static penetration tests successively since 1982. Compared with the standard penetration test, side pressure test, and laboratory test, the results of the analysis are presented below. I. Characteristics of Granite Residual Soil Shenzhen Granite Residual Soil is a residual soil layer formed by physical and chemical weathering of Yanshanian coarse-grained (or fine-grained) granites. It has typical characteristics of granite weathering in hot and humid regions, and its thickness can reach 18-40. Meters, from the surface down, can be roughly divided into three layers: 1. Sandy, gravel, clay red, mesh structure, hard plastic ~ hard state, sand, gravel content of about 50%, thickness of 1 to 5 meters.
