Taking the high-impedance electromagnetic wave reflection surface as an example, the concept of photonic crystal and its working principle are introduced. The research progress of photonic crystal in microwave field is reviewed. The singularity of high-impedance electromagnetic wave reflection surface and its application in microwave communication are discussed prospect.
