《申报》是旧中国历史最久、影响最大的一家报纸。在很长一段时间内,上海一带人们常叫报纸为“申报纸”,把它当作中国新闻纸的代名词;它的影响,不仅遍及上海及东南沿海地区,而且扩展到海外。研究这样一家有代表性的报纸,既有价值,又有必要;宋军新著《申报的兴衰》一书,便是一项有价值的研究成果。该书有三个特点: 一、内容全面,重点突出。 《申报》的历史很曲折,从1872年4月30日创办到1949年5月27日终刊,经历过英商办报(1872~1909)、买办办报(1909~1912)、民族资本家办报(1912~1941)、汉奸办报(1942~1945)、国民党办报(1945~1949)等几个阶段。本书突出的是英商美查办报与民族资本家史量才办报;在史量才办报阶段,又突出
“Shenbao” is the oldest and most influential newspaper in old China. For a long time, people in Shanghai often referred to the newspaper as “Shenbao Newspaper” as a synonym for China’s newsprint. Its influence spread not only in Shanghai and its southeastern coastal areas but also overseas. It is both valuable and necessary to study such a representative newspaper. The new work of Song Jun, “The Rise and Fall of the Declaration,” is a valuable research result. The book has three characteristics: First, the contents of a comprehensive, focused. The history of “Shenbao” is very tortuous. It was founded from April 30, 1872 to the final of May 27, 1949. It has been experienced by the British Business Press (1872-1909), Comprador Press (1909-1912), the National Capitalist Office (1912 ~ 1941), the traitors newspaper (1942 ~ 1945), the KMT newspaper (1945 ~ 1949) and several other stages. This book highlights the fact that the British Chamber of Commerce in the United States did not handle the historical records of the national capitalists;
