Zhang Xiaolei is currently the dean of the Xinjiang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and concurrently holds the post of Communications Member of the Land Use and Land Cover Group (LUCC) of the International Geographical Union (IGU), standing director of the Chinese Geographical Society, deputy director of the Urban Geographic Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society, chairman of the Xinjiang Geographic Society, Chinese Academy of Sciences Degree Assessment Committee, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region City Planning Leading Group, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region “Eleventh Five-Year ” planning expert committee, Urumqi City Planning Commission, Urumqi City Planning Expert Committee, Chinese Geographical Science, “human geography”, “Chinese desert”, “regional research and development”, “arid geographical” and other periodical editorial board.
