衡宝战役是解放战争后期的一次重要战役,这次战役的直接作用是重创了李宗仁的新桂系主力,为全歼逃桂残部和进军大西南创造了条件。其间接作用则是使李宗仁输光了政治资本,从而加剧了蒋、李矛盾,并迫使美国断绝了对国民党政府的援助。衡宝战役是新桂系覆亡的关键一战。我军的胜利,加速了李宗仁的“赴美就医”和国民党军队在大陆彻底崩溃的历史进程。
The Battle of Hengbao was an important campaign in the latter part of the Liberation War. The direct effect of this campaign was to create a major force for Li Zongren’s new Guangxi clan system and to create the conditions for the complete annihilation of the illegal remnants of Guangxi and the entry into the Great Southwest. Its indirect role is to make Li Zongren lose his political capital, thereby aggravating the Chiang Kai-shek and Li conflicts and forcing the United States to cut off aid to the Kuomintang government. Hengbao battle is the decisive battle of the new Gui family. The victory of our military accelerated the historical process of “going to the United States for medical treatment” by Li Zong-ren and the complete collapse of the Kuomintang troops on the mainland.
