Through the acquisition of IBM System x, Lenovo also ushered in the field of HPC a fast run. Stuttgart is the capital of the state in central Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany. “Stuttgart ” evolved from German “Stutengarten ”, originally referring to “stud farm”. Around 950 AD, Rudolf, the Duke of Swabia, the son of Otto I, the Holy Roman Emperor, established Stuttgart as a place for raising horses. More than a thousand years later, Stuttgart has long struggled to find a place to race. Instead, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Kodak, IBM and a host of rapidly growing high-tech companies around the world have chosen Stuttgart as their global or European headquarters.
