The chaotic and aggressive planting of cash crops such as palm trees threatens the habitat of Indonesia’s tropical rain forests and Sumatran tigers. Today, the deforested palm oil penetrates the Chinese market through Wilmar’s supply chain. In the face of huge economic interests, who else cares about the life and death of the earth? A Sumatran tiger wander leisurely in Indonesia’s natural rainforest, not far from the roar of mechanical logging tree seems to not affect it good mood. What it does not know, however, is that perhaps tomorrow, the rainforest it has just passed will be razed and planted with palm trees as part of the human economic chain.
