5CrMnMo钢是目前使用较多的热锻模具钢之一,主要用于中小型锻模。与5CrNiMo钢相比,虽然强度相当,但常温及高温下的塑性和韧性较低。用5CrMnMo钢制造的锻模,采用常规热处理工艺(淬火温度:850℃;回火温度:490——540℃)往往造成模具的早期失效,其主要失效形式是开裂、塑性变形和龟裂,因而使锻模的使用寿命降低。若对5CrMnMo钢锻模进行强韧化处理,即适当地提高淬火温度并延长回火时间,便可显著地提高断裂韧性,从而提高模具的使用寿命。
