“海上茶路”是中国丝绸之路文明对话的重要组成部分。中国历史悠久的茶文化通过陆路、海道传播到世界各地。“海上茶路”始于唐代,从明州港而达周边诸国,直至遥远的非洲,不但出运大批越窑青瓷茶器皿,更将浙东历史悠久的茶文化向外传播。海上茶路起航地,主要是指起到茶与茶文化传播作用的使舶、商舶的起航地。文物史料证实,东北亚的朝鲜半岛、东亚的日本列岛,以及东南亚等地区的茶和茶文化,是通过明州港传播过去的。唐宋时期,明州茶文化欣欣向荣的社会背景,为开拓、发展“海上茶路”奠定了良好的社会基础。
