将文化背景知识融入到英语教学中起源于二十世纪80年代。随着中国经济的迅速发展,与西方国家之间的交流不断增加,人们发现,与西方人沟通时,由于对英语文化知识的缺乏,出现了“文化休克”或“文化冲突”等现象。以往的英语教学形式不能适应当今的社会发展需要。文化教学必须引入到英语教学中。本文通过分析语言与文化的关系以及文化差异造成的沟通障碍,阐述了文化背景知识对英语教学的重要性,并提出了一些建议。
The integration of cultural background knowledge into English teaching originated in the 1980s. With the rapid economic development in China, the exchange with western countries has been increasing. People find that when communicating with Westerners, “cultural shock” or “cultural conflict” arises due to the lack of knowledge of English culture. And so on. The past forms of English teaching can not meet the needs of today’s social development. Culture teaching must be introduced into English teaching. By analyzing the relationship between language and culture as well as the communication barriers caused by cultural differences, this paper expounds the importance of cultural background knowledge to English teaching and puts forward some suggestions.
