This study investigated the effect of the direction of the occlusal force acting on the incisors in the sagittal direction during mastication on mandibular and closed jaw muscle activity. A total of 10 healthy children with 1-2 upper right posterior incisors were enrolled in this study (4 males and 6 females, with an average age of 10 years and 5 months before treatment and a standard deviation of 18 months). Each subject received an average of 11.1 months of orthodontic treatment. Before and after orthodontic treatment, each subject chewed a piece of chewing gum on the right side. K-5 (InC) jaw motion recorder and electromyography were used to record the movement of the jaw and the ipsilateral temporalis muscle The EMG signals of the massecuite and shallow masseter muscle (silver surface electrodes paired with Beckman type, 10 mm apart, fixed to the muscle surface in the muscle fiber direction, and the ground electrode connected to the right wrist). These signals are from 5 signal channels
