Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1) is a fatty acid β-oxidation rate-limiting enzyme. CPT1c, the last member of the CPT family to be discovered, contains a sequence that contains the necessary enzymatic active domain but shows no apparent carnitine palmitoyl transferase activity in vitro. Functional studies suggest that CPT1c affects tumorigenesis and development, and its role in hypoxia and other metabolic stress regulation response. This article describes the biological characteristics of CPT1c and its role in the tumor, to explore its application in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer prospects.
