全球气候变暖的趋势将会威胁到人类及地球上所有生物的生存和发展。近几年南极冰川融化加速、大型冰山解体,随之而来的是海平面的上升。保护南极冰川已成为摆在人类面前的紧迫任务。作者设想用一种巨大的充气结构体作为保护冰川的天盖,以大量减少冰川的辐射吸收热,从而延缓或阻止冰川的消融;同时将大量高效太阳能电池帆板置于天盖上表面,将太阳能转换为电能,从而产生一定的经济效益。
