For a long time now, “freedom of the press” has been a hot topic in the international press. What is the current status of the press in the world? The recent study by the International Journalism Institute of the world press from November 1986 to November 1987 shows: In many countries and governments in the world, the intervention by the media and the direct and indirect control tended to be gradually strengthened. The daily work of journalists is being restricted or even threatened in various fields. Press and dissemination tools are constantly being banned, and the ban on news media tools being banned by the government due to their duties has occurred frequently. Last September, a major opposition party newspaper in Bangladesh was banned by the government on charges of “making false and untrue reports.” The real reason is that the newspaper published an article disclosing that the Interior Ministry had provided weapons to the ruling party and used it to frustrate the general strike led by the opposition party.
