The inner zone of the Cordillera Betic in southeastern Spain consists of several superimposed large thrust beds, each with a different p-T-t evolution history. Based on field and experimental studies, p-T-t traces and deformation diagrams of the Mulhacen complex and Almanzora unit have been identified (Fig. 1, omitted). In the initial part of the q-T-t orbit of the Mulhacen complex, three distinct phases can be identified that are related to crustal subduction. Sedimentary rocks subducted in the first stage and migrated rapidly to the deep crust. The p-T condition indicates a subduction to a depth of 37 km. However, no deformation was observed, demonstrating the tectonic effect
