The content of five trace elements (zinc, iron, copper, manganese and cadmium) in hair of 500 healthy children aged 6 ~ 12 years in Liuzhou Railway was determined by WFX-1E atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results showed that the contents of five trace elements in hair were not significantly different among different sexes. The contents of zinc, copper and manganese increased with age, but positively correlated with age. However, iron and cadmium were the opposite , Decreased with age, and negatively correlated with age. The authors used the percentile method to calculate the 95% normal range of five trace elements in healthy hair for children in the region: zinc 38.30 to 177.55 ppm, iron 10.49 to 105.71 ppm, copper 0.95 to 38.33 ppm, manganese 0.12 to 3.45 ppm , Cadmium 0.03 ~ 1.10ppm, suggesting that trace elements is one of the important factors that affect children’s growth and development.
