“小百花”现象自其孕育、萌芽至今,已经历了10余年的发展过程。那么,这10余年来,贯穿“小百花”艺术生产领域的规律性特征是什么呢?通过调查,我们认为,尽管其具体形态各异,但是“小百花”艺术生产中始终存在着一个根本性的倾向,或曰特点,即对戏曲艺术现代美的追求,在充分尊重戏曲艺术特定的结构原则,不损害其原有的艺术秩序的和谐状态的前提下,寻求戏曲的现代美,使戏曲艺术既适应时代,又不失去它自身太多的特点,使传统美与现代美相契合。这个总的艺术追求包涵着以下两个方面的内容:
