In the field of elemental organic compounds, the study of phosphorus organic compounds is the fastest growing one. Many of these compounds have a lively physiological role. Therefore, due to the need of practical application, various countries in the world are now establishing such research and promoting the flourishing development of phosphorus-organic compound chemistry. Recently, there are thousands of articles published each year in this area. The Soviet School and the German A. Michaelis School have done a lot of work in this area over a long period of time. The former focuses on aliphatic phosphate esters, the latter on aromatics.
