苦瓜原产于东印度,后经陆路传入我国,在我国南方地区有600年的栽培历史,在长期的栽培过程中形成了一些优良的地方品种.近年来由于发现苦瓜具有较高的营养价值和药用价值,在全国范围内栽培面积不断扩大,并培育出不少新品种.苦瓜的不同品种在果皮颜色、果型、苦味、抗性、熟性等特性略有差异.本文主要介绍苦瓜的一些优良地方品种和最近几年培育出的新品种的主要特性,便于生产者根据当地的气候条件、土壤特性、消费习惯和栽培季节等选择适宜的品种进行栽培.
