新中国成立以来特别是改革开放以来,党和国家高度重视少数民族的版事业,维吾尔、汉、哈萨克、蒙古、柯尔克孜、锡伯6种语言文字的图书、电子音像制品得以大量出版,其中以维吾尔文出版的历史作品和译著占了相当一部分。随着改革开放深入推进,自治区成立了专门研究社会科学的机构——新疆社会科学院,其中设置了专门研究新疆历史的研究机构——历史研究所。另外,新疆大学、新疆师范大学、喀什师范学院等高等院校的历史系与新疆大学所属的中亚研究所和阿尔泰学研究所等研究机构的成立,为研究新疆历史培养了大批各民族研究人员。加上中国维
