20年前中韩两国正式建立外交关系不久,为了增进两国人民之间的相互理解,中国社会科学院韩国研究中心和韩国现代中国研究会通过友好协商,决定共同创办一个专门研究和介绍韩国的学术期刊。《当代韩国》顺利出版发行,至今延续了20年,作为我国唯一一本专门研究韩国的刊物,在学术界和广大读者中发挥了一定的影响,这不能不感谢韩国学者和朋友们为此付出的辛劳。多少年来,《当代韩国》始终坚持创刊时确定的两个原则:一是信守实事求是、从实际出发的科学态度,深入研究和介绍韩国的政治、经济、文化、社会、历史等各方面的情况,做出客观的分析和评论,保持学术刊物的严肃性和高品位。二是坚持办刊的目的在于增进中国广大读者对韩国的 Not long after China and ROK formally established diplomatic relations 20 years ago, in order to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, the Korea Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Korea Modern Chinese Studies Association decided to jointly establish a special study and introduction of South Korea Academic journals.
