Today，electronic information plays a vital role in people’s daily work and life.This essay argues that the internet and the print materials have both advantages and disadvantages when conducting academic research.For the convenience of conducting academic research，the internet is more convenient than the print materials.For the health of conducting academic research，the print materials are healthier than the internet and for the economy of conducting academic research the internet is more economical than the print materials.In this way，this paper believes that the internet is better than the print materials.
　　Firstly，the internet is more convenient in doing academic research.“Whether you are setting out on a sizeable research project or just checking train times，the Internet will help you find what you need”（Chambers & Northedge，2008）.In that case，the researchers can conduct their researches at their convenience and indeed attain the efficiency.In contrast，the publishing process of the print materials is complicated，involving screening，proofing and many other steps.The researcher can’t take a lot of academic research to read carefully if people are waiting for buses.Besides，the knowledge of the print materials is limited and cannot be updated immediately.If the researcher wants to find some vital information，he will go to the library all day.However，some relevant information is out of date.Therefore，this essay points out that the internet is more convenient when conducting academic research.
　　Then，for the health of conducting academic research，the internet is not healthy for researchers.If the research conducts academic research on the internet，they watch the computer screen for such a long time that makes their eyes very tired.“According to Dr Blakeney，an optometric adviser to the College of Optometrists，computers can cause strain or exacerbate existing eye conditions” （Garbutt & Hons，2017）.On the other hand，the internet has many undesirable （not good） academic journals.While for paper or printed journals.They also can take notes and conduct an in-depth study when they reading academic journal.The writer points out that for the health of conducting academic research，the print materials are healthier than the internet for the researcher.
　　At last，for the economy of conducting academic research，the internet is economical.The academic journal websites provide a good learning platform for researchers.They need not spend more money to subscribe to kinds of the academic journal.It is very economical for researchers who study academic work.On the contrary，the print things are thriftless.The main carrier of the prints things is books and newspapers.The cost of publishing books is expensive than the internet.Baron，Naomi （2015） said the trend of keeping the publish short began more than ago，because if the manuscript is more 100，000 words，then you have to think whether to afford to print it.It is not reality for readers to buy all kinds of the academic journal.Therefore，the print things are thriftless.The writer said for the economy of conducting academic research，the internet is more economical than the print things.
　　In conclusion，this essay argues that the internet and the print things have both advantages and disadvantages for conducting academic research.The researcher should use the dialectical view of the two different conducting academic research ways.The researcher can use the internet and the print things to work together for conducting academic research.However，for the economy and the convenience of conducting academic research，the internet is best.
