本刊在1985年第11期以《无足者踏出的闪光之路》为逐报道了全国首届伤残人运动会A3级铅球、铁饼、标枪三块金牌获得者、女民兵刘玉坤。7年来,刘玉坤以一个女民兵特有的敢于拚搏和不断进取精神,使自己的“足”迹不断闪烁出更加耀眼的光辉。1986年以后,连续囊括全国二、三届和四、五届远东及南太平洋地区伤残人运动会“三铁”12枚金牌,先后5次打破世界纪录,被誉为“三铁公主”。她的名字因此而载入《世界天下名人录》、《华夏妇女名人词典》。目前,她通过在国家集训队艰苦的训练后,鏖战巴塞罗那第9届伤残人奥运会,夺得铁饼金牌,并再次打破世界纪录。
